Trip Report
Paris on Deux Wheels
Paris, France

Paris' bicycle program, Velib, aimed to have over 20,000 bikes at 1,450 bike stations by the end of 2007. Ride for less than 30 minutes for free, or pay just $7 for a weekly pass.

Ooolala! What a wonderful way to see the city!

NOTE: Velib’s Bike-rental machines ($1.50/day or $7/week) only accept credit cards with smart chips, such as certain American Express cards. You also can’t rent a helmet, so you’ll have to bring one (though there are no helmet laws in Paris.) Willing to spend more? $15/day will rent you a bike and helmet at one of the 20 Roue Libre stands (www.rouelibre.fr)
